SUMMARY:Smokey and the Bandit
DESCRIPTION: Bandit and Cledus are two truck-driving southerners who accept a dare from big-shots Big and Little Enos to pick up a truckload of beer from Texas and return it to them within a specified amount of time. Picking it up is simple enough, but as they are leaving Texas, Bandit unwittingly picks up Carrie, a hitchhiking bride-to-be who just left her groom, Junior, at the altar. Junior, however, is the son of Sheriff Buford T. Justice. And when Buford and Junior discover what has happened, they go on a "high-speed pursuit" across the Southeast to catch the bandit. Join us at Friendship Park for a step back into the 70's for this classic laugh riot. Movies start at Dusk. Come grab a hot dog and some popcorn and hang out with your friends and neighbors before the movie.

SUMMARY:Monsters vs Aliens @ Fairview Park
DESCRIPTION: Animated Feature Voices by: Reese Witherspoon, Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd DreamWorks Animation; Directed by Conrad Vernon and Rob Letterman Rated PG; 94 minutes; 2009 When a meteorite from outer space hits a young girl and douses her with the alien liquid Quantonium it turns her into a 48 foot monster. She is taken to a secret government compound where she meets a ragtag group of monsters also rounded up over the years. This crew of reluctant heroes is asked to save the earth from the evil alien Gallaxhar in this animated comedy. Event Sponsors Movies, Games & More events are free to you, our neighbors, but there are costs involved in these events........... movie licensing, decorations etc. etc. We have a number of ways businesses can help us out. Please see our Support Page for more details. Monsters vs Aliens Activity Sheet Tonight's Theme/Programming Last summer we showed Mars Attacks at Fairview Park. Rather than just wait for dark and show a movie, we put together some fun programming that went with the theme of the movie. We had the actual flying saucer used in the movie at the park. The guys from the Armory at 2nd and Prospect Avenues brought over some HumVee's and a crane to lift the saucer, we had Dr. Gary DeLeo a Lehigh University Astrophysicist talking about Mars Fact and Fiction, we had ladies from the Martian Tourism Authority there promoting the great vacation opportunities on Mars, we had a working 1/6th scale Mars Rover replica looking for signs of intelligent life at the park. In short, we had a good time before the movie. SO, come early and hang out with your friends and neighbors and see what we are up to this year at Fairview! Go to our Fairview Park page for pictures from Seasons 1 and 2 to see what we have been up to. Movie Start Times Movies start a few minutes after sunset. Outdoor movies require it to be dark out in order to see the movie. Take a look at the sunset times in our weather forecast but are generally around 8:45-9:00pm. That doesn't matter though because you are already there for the fun pre-movie events right? Snack Shack The "Snack Shack" at Fairview Park is brought to you by the great folks from the Fairview Blockwatch. Your support of the Snack Shack supports the Fairview Blockwatch and all their projects. They will be serving hot, buttery, fresh popped popcorn, hot dogs, soda/water and other tasty treats. Bring your appetite! Unfortunately, Fairview Park has no bathroom facilities. I would suggest one of the restaurants on West Broad Street between 4th and 5th Avenue or maybe the police substation at 4th Avenue and West Broad Street. Weather Weather is an issue with outdoor movies. We have to think of the safety of you....our audience, our volunteers and the equipment. Rain is bad for the electronics and wind can be a big deal with a 32x24 foot inflatable screen! In the event of bad weather, our makeup date is the next day. Please check the website the day of the event, check Facebook, call the office at 610-997-5732 and/or sign up for our Constant Contact Movies, Games and More email notification list. See the Subscribe box on the lower right on the Sidebar of the website. We also hang a "postponed" banner at the site if you happen to cruise by the venue. We are going to attempt to be more daring this year as last year was very difficult with alot of "iffy" weather. Another issue with a bad forecast is a small turnout. If we show it anyway, we have to pay the licensing fees. If hardly anyone is going to turn out because the forecast isn't great, that's a factor as well. Yet another factor is what programming we may have planned on a given night. Lot's of programming is challenging to reschedule so the more stuff we have planned, the more likely we are to give it a go. We subscribe to pay weather services that is supposedly better than what's available for free but we have seen incoming rain just dry up and clouds disappear more than a few times. Grrrrrr! Here is the weather report for tonight's event: [weather_display] North by Northwest Neighborhood Initiative The North by Northwest Neighborhood Initiative is the originator of these events. Our main website is www.nbnw-bpa.org. Check in there to see what else we have going on and/or check us out on Facebook. We have installed pan/tilt/zoom cameras at both Fairview and Friendship Parks that are monitored AND recorded 24/7/365 by the Bethlehem Police Department. We hope to do a few new things in the parks this year as well if we can find some funding. More on that as it develops.

Event Sponsors Movies, Games & More events are free to you, our neighbors, but there are costs involved in these events........... movie licensing, decorations etc. etc. We have a number of ways businesses can help us out. Please see our Support Page for more details. Tonight's Event Sponsor are First Star Bank and Air Products. Insert videos and pictures here Tonight's Theme/Programming Over at Friendship we showed Kung Fu Panda. We had chinese themed decorations, a Tai Chi demonstration, martial arts demonstration, calligraphy demonstration, traditional chinese clothes to check out and try on, fireworks table by Celebration Fireworks that does Bethlehem’s 4th of July Fireworks, etc. In short, we have a good time before the movies. SO, come early and hang out with your friends and neighbors and see what we are up to this year at Friendship Park! Go to our Friendship Park page for pictures from Seasons 1 and 2 to see what we have been up to. Insert Programming here Movie Start Times Movies start a few minutes after sunset. Outdoor movies require it to be dark out in order to see the movie. Take a look at the sunset times in our weather forecast but are generally around 8:45-9:00pm. That doesn't matter though because you are already there for the fun pre-movie events right? Snack Shack The "Snack Shack" at Friendship Park is brought to you by the Friends of Friendship Park. Your support of the Snack Shack supports the garden and other improvements at Friendship Park. They will be serving hot, buttery, fresh popped popcorn, hot dogs, soda/water and other tasty treats. Bring your appetite! Unfortunately, Friendship Park has no bathroom facilities. I would suggest one of the restaurants on Linden Street or maybe the police substation also on Linden Street.
