On April 16th, 2011 Bobby Brown set a new benchmark in the world of skiing. Bobby was attending the Red Bull training grounds at Squaw Valley, CA when he successfully completed a Triple Cork 1440. This is a teaser of what went down.

Winter started last night in Bethlehem with the arrival of Meathead Films Co-Owner, Chris James and the Subaru Meatwagon from Burlington VT. He must have brought the cold weather with him. Reports were that it was snowing in VT again yesterday. Sweet! Sean Jordan, a Meatheads star athlete and PA native was also at the Ice House to praise Ullr as well. Watch for more of Sean in films and on the ski tour.

Elk Mountain was there as well delivering lift tickets for the fans and info on a great mountain right here in PA! I love Elk, always have great conditions when I go and a great variety of terrain to devour! Also in the house last night was Geoff Balkman, Powder Magazine Cartoonist. Catch Geoff today for the afternoon show before he has to head back home. Nestor’s Ski Shop was doing a tuning clinic for folks interested in getting the most from their equipment.

Swag was literally flying through the air last night for the lucky fans of powder snow in attendance. A huge amount of prizes were awarded in the raffle as well ranging from cup cozy’s, t-shirts, goggles all the way to an HD Helmet Cam and Line Prophet Skis.

The films were incredible. Work it Out from the Meatheads had an amazing segment from Washington DC. The people in DC must think there is something wacky in the water up north to make these guys do what they do. Poor Boyz Revolver had some incredible lines. I always love the POV shots using helmet cams so we mortals can see what it actually looks like to fly.

The afterparty at the Bethlehem BrewWorks was great. They always do a fantastic job. What a great chance to talk with others passionate about winter sports and talk with the people who make the movies we love.

The Ice House is on Sand Island in Bethlehem. The address for people mapping it is: 56 River Street Bethlehem PA 18018. It’s on the north side of the Lehigh River which goes right through Bethlehem. Parking is available on Sand Island and just off the island under the bridges and surrounding streets.

On Sand Island, turn right and go past Fritch Fuel and park in the lots there or go left when you get on the island, past the Ice House and park down by the tennis courts. Best bet is just off the island on the streets. OR, if you are attending the afterparty or want to come in for an really early supper downtown, hit one of the downtown parking garages.

Make Stoketoberfest your weekend plans for Friday and Saturday and come see Work it Out by Meathead Films. Joining us from the Great White North (10-16″ up at Killington, Sugarbush, Stowe & Jay Peak yesterday) will be Meathead Tour Director Chris James & Sean Jordan.

Chris works crazy hours putting the tour together in cities all over the Northeast. Chris says this is a very important tour stop for Meathead Films being the southernmost tip of the tour in an area filled with skiers. Chris also is a photographer for the Meats getting deep into that back and sidecountry powda to get the shots you see on the dvd boxes, on posters etc.  You’ve heard Chris before as Narrator on films like Wanderland, he has co-directed and been in front of the camera as well.

Just noticed, Chris has some photo credits in the Nov. issue of Powdaaa that you will be getting at Stoketoberfest.

Next time you are skiing the Poconos, the guy sharing the lift with you might just be Sean Jordan. Sean hails from Moscow PA and competed in the Dew Tour. If Sean’s rocking it this strong at 16, what’s he gonna be like when he’s all growd up? Watch out ski world.

Relax after the movies at the VIP Party with the gang and ask questions, get tips on tricks, hang out, get something signed. Maybe get some inside intelligence on where Meathead Films is likely to ski this year and go see the filming live.

Rumors have it that a couple other Meats might be joining them so check back for updates later today. Oh yeah, don’t forget…tickets. You can also get them at Nestor’s in Whitehall and Homebase Skateshop in Bethlehem.

Mighty Ullr came down from Valhalla to visit Harvestfest in Bethlehem yesterday. Good music, weather much too warm for Ullr but apparently acceptable to others attending and lots of good Mead and Wine made for a great day for all.

Ullr was backed up by a big screen showing the trailers for the films from Stoketoberfest and a showing of some of the swag and raffle prizes that will be distributed to the fans.

In a stroke of good fortune, Ullr, the phat man of winter himself will be on Main Street @ Harvest Fest in front of Pacino’s this Saturday. He’s very excited that so many of you have become Stoked for the upcoming season of Champagne Powder, White Smoke, rolling groomers, bump runs, glades and more.

Come see the trailers for all the films at Stoketoberfest. They will be projected on our small inflatable screen in the window of Pacino’s all day in a loop. Grab a Stoketoberfest flyer and if you want, take your picture with Ullr. Tickets ($15 cash only) will also be available for the sessions as well as VIP Afterparty tickets ($5). Come hang with the superheroes of snow and maybe find out where their travels might take the film crew in our area of the EAST this season. The Meatheads have filmed at Blue and Big Boulder in previous films.
